Most teas are gluten-free, as they are made from the leaves of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) and do not contain any gluten. However, it is possible for tea to be contaminated with gluten if it is processed or packaged in a facility that also handles gluten-containing grains, such as wheat, barley, or rye. If you are concerned about gluten in your tea, you can look for teas that are labeled as "gluten-free" or "certified gluten-free," which means that they have been tested and confirmed to be free of gluten. You can also contact the manufacturer to inquire about their production processes and whether any gluten-containing grains are present in their facilities.
Most pure teas (such as black, green, oolong, and white tea) do not contain any added sugars or calories. They are made from the leaves of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) and do not contain any sweeteners or added ingredients.

However, some flavored teas may contain added sugars or calories. For example, teas that are flavored with fruit or fruit juice may contain natural sugars from the fruit. Additionally, some teas may be blended with sweeteners or other ingredients, such as honey, syrup, or milk, which can add calories and sugars to the tea.

If you are concerned about added sugars or calories in your tea, you can check the ingredient list on the Brewing and Info tab or contact us about the ingredients and nutritional content of the tea. You can also opt for pure, unflavored teas, which do not contain any added sugars or calories.

It depends what you mean by containing flavoring. There are natural flavorings to tea, like strawberry or cherry, infused flavoring and artificial flavors.

Some teas do contain added flavorings, while others do not.

Unflavored teas, such as black, green, oolong, and white tea, are made from the leaves of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) and do not contain any added flavorings. The flavor of these teas comes from the natural compounds present in the tea leaves and is influenced by factors such as the type of tea plant, the growing conditions, and the processing methods used.

Flavored teas, on the other hand, are made by blending unflavored tea with additional ingredients that add flavor to the tea. These ingredients can include natural flavorings, such as fruit, spices, or herbs, or artificial flavorings, which are synthesized in a laboratory. Flavored teas can be made using a variety of different flavors, including fruit, spice, floral, and more.

If you are looking for a tea with a specific flavor profile, you may want to consider choosing a flavored tea. However, if you prefer the natural flavor of the tea leaves, you may want to opt for an unflavored tea.

The main difference between natural and artificial flavorings in tea is the way that they are produced.

Natural flavorings are made from natural sources, such as fruits, spices, herbs, or other plant materials. They are extracted or distilled from these sources and then added to the tea to impart a specific flavor.

Artificial flavorings, on the other hand, are synthesized in a laboratory and do not occur naturally in nature. They are created by combining various chemical compounds in a specific way to mimic the flavor of a natural substance.

There are pros and cons to both natural and artificial flavorings in tea. Natural flavorings can offer a more authentic and complex flavor, but they may be less stable and have a shorter shelf life than artificial flavorings. Artificial flavorings, on the other hand, can be more stable and have a longer shelf life, but they may not taste as authentic or nuanced as natural flavorings.

Ultimately, the choice between natural and artificial flavorings in tea is a matter of personal preference. Some people prefer the taste and authenticity of natural flavorings, while others may prefer the stability and convenience of artificial flavorings.

The shelf life of tea depends on a few factors, including the type of tea, how it is stored, and how it is packaged.

In general, loose leaf teas tend to have a longer shelf life than tea bags, as the tea leaves are less likely to become stale or lose their flavor when they are not contained in a bag. Loose leaf teas can stay fresh for several months to a year or more, depending on how they are stored.

Tea bags have a shorter shelf life than loose leaf teas, as the tea leaves are often ground into smaller pieces and are more susceptible to becoming stale. Tea bags can stay fresh for several months to a year, depending on how they are stored.

To extend the shelf life of tea, it is important to store it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture. Avoid storing tea in the refrigerator or freezer, as the fluctuations in temperature can cause the tea to become stale more quickly.

It is also important to check the expiration date on the packaging, as this can give you an idea of how long the tea is likely to stay fresh. If the tea has an unpleasant aroma or flavor, or if the leaves have become discolored or brittle, it is probably time to dispose of it and purchase a fresh batch.

Tea does not technically expire in the same way that perishable food items do. Tea leaves do not contain moisture, which means that they do not support the growth of bacteria or other microorganisms that can cause spoilage. However, tea can lose its flavor and aroma over time, especially if it is not stored properly.

Best to always consult with your doctor on this.
There are many ways to make tea, and the best way will depend on your personal preferences and the type of tea you are brewing. Each tea we carry has how-to brew in the Brewing and Info tab. Here are a few general tips for making the best tea:

Use fresh, cold water: Water that is old or has been sitting out for a long time may have a flat taste, which can affect the flavor of your tea. Use cold, fresh water for the best results.

Heat the water to the appropriate temperature: Different types of tea require different water temperatures for optimal brewing. For example, black and herbal teas are best brewed with boiling water, while green and white teas are best brewed with water that is slightly cooler (around 160-180 degrees Fahrenheit).

Use the right amount of tea: The amount of tea you use will depend on the strength of the tea and your personal preference. A general rule of thumb is to use about 1 teaspoon of tea leaves for every 8 ounces of water.

Steep the tea for the appropriate amount of time: The length of time you steep your tea will also depend on the type of tea and your personal preference. In general, black and herbal teas can be steeped for 3-5 minutes, while green and white teas are best steeped for 1-3 minutes.

Experiment and find what works best for you: The best way to make tea is to experiment and find what works best for you. Try different brewing methods, water temperatures, and steeping times to see what yields the best results.

Yes, you can cold brew loose-leaf tea! Cold brewing is a method of preparing tea in which the tea leaves are steeped in cold water for an extended period of time, rather than being steeped in hot water. Cold brewing can produce a tea that is less bitter and astringent than hot-brewed tea, as the lower water temperature extracts fewer tannins from the tea leaves.

To cold brew loose leaf tea, you will need:

Loose leaf tea Cold water A jar or pitcher A fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth Here's how to cold brew loose leaf tea:

Allow the tea to steep for 6-12 hours, or overnight. Strain the tea using a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth. Serve the tea over ice or refrigerate it until ready to serve. Cold brewing loose-leaf tea is a simple and easy way to enjoy refreshing and flavorful iced tea. You can adjust the strength of the tea by using more or less tea leaves, and you can experiment with different steeping times to find the flavor profile that you prefer.

Steeping tea is a process in which tea leaves are soaked in hot water to extract the flavors and aromas of the tea. Here are the basic steps for steeping tea:

Heat water: Bring a pot of water to a boil or heat water in a kettle. The temperature of the water will depend on the type of tea you are brewing. For example, black and herbal teas are best brewed with boiling water, while green and white teas are best brewed with water that is slightly cooler (around 160-180 degrees Fahrenheit).

Place the tea leaves in a teapot or infuser: Place the tea leaves in a teapot or infuser. The amount of tea you use will depend on the strength of the tea and your personal preference. A general rule of thumb is to use about 1 teaspoon of tea leaves for every 8 ounces of water.

Pour the hot water over the tea leaves: Carefully pour the hot water over the tea leaves. Make sure to cover the tea leaves completely.

Steep the tea for the appropriate amount of time: The length of time you steep your tea will depend on the type of tea and your personal preference. In general, black and herbal teas can be steeped for 3-5 minutes, while green and white teas are best steeped for 1-3 minutes.

Remove the tea leaves: Once the tea has finished steeping, remove the tea leaves from the water using a strainer or by removing the infuser.

Serve the tea: Pour the brewed tea into cups or a teapot and serve it hot. You can add honey, lemon, milk, or other ingredients to your tea if desired. Enjoy!

The best way to store tea is to keep it in a cool, dry place that is free from direct sunlight and other sources of heat and moisture. Tea should also be stored in an airtight container to keep it fresh and prevent it from picking up any unwanted odors or flavors. It's also a good idea to store tea away from strong-smelling items, such as spices or coffee, as the tea may absorb their flavors.
