Benefits of uure Black Teas

Black tea is perhaps the world’s most popular tea, and for good reason! Every tea producing country has its own variation, with its own unique flavors and scents, reflecting the vast variety of climates – tea terroir – and harvesting and traditional curing techniques. Black tea is a truly giant category of different tea experiences, including the Indian Assams, Darjeelings and Chais, the innumerable number of Chinese Hong Cha (Red Tea), and the timeless English and Irish Black Teas and Earl Greys.

Fully oxidized to be rich in tannins and antioxidant polyphenols, black tea has been shown to help reduce obesity, diabetes, cholesterol and high blood sugar, while helping reduce excess fat. Black tea imparts a relaxed mental clarity that is often better tolerated than coffee, as the L-Theanine mellows the nervous system while the caffeine wakes you up. Plus, many cultures consider it warming to the belly and useful to settle the stomach. Learn more in our Ultimate Black Tea guide.

Benefits of uure Teas

What Makes It Great...

“The path to Heaven passes through a teapot.” – Ancient proverb

Tea is all things to all people. It’s magical like that. If you’re down, it’ll pick you up. If you’re frustrated, it will relax you. It can wake you up when you need it, and put you to sleep when you don’t. It’s perfect for when you’re alone, and equally perfect to share. There’s a reason that cultures the world over have always held a good tea sacred. Few things can so change a person, a mood or an experience. The best thoughts are had over a cup of tea; the best plans are made… because tea isn’t just tea, it’s time. It’s tea time. That may sound simple, but if you’ve really had tea time, you know it’s true.

Just sitting with a cup does wonders for the soul – and for your health. Taking even a little break helps to reduce stress hormones. But tea itself is special; it is filled with powerful antioxidants, such as polyphenols and flavonoids, which have profound effects on the entirety of the body. Some of these may include; reducing the risk of heart disease, lowering cholesterol, reducing blood pressure and blood sugar levels, reducing the risks of certain kinds of cancer and even supporting healthy gut bacteria.

So when you take time for a cup of tea, know that you are really taking time to take care of yourself. And taking care of yourself just feels good.

Fun Fact

From Jeff

What are...

You might be surprised to learn that black tea and green tea share a botanical origin—both stem from the Camellia sinensis plant! What sets them apart? It's all in the way they're crafted. Picture green tea leaves, treated with haste—steamed or pan-fired to halt oxidation. Now, imagine black tea leaves, embracing oxidation as they bask in the open air. As the leaves darken, they gain a robust essence, an aroma that speaks of depth. This metamorphosis births black tea's signature hue and daring flavor, creating a distinction from its verdant kin.

  • Exquisite Oak Black Tea

Posted by Andrea on Apr 18th 2023

I was very curious about this one. I love teas that have a feel of being in a forest or camping. This black tea is a smooth tea that has a back door essence of being in the woods. The oaky accent really is quite nice and not too strong. I will definitely get this one again.
